According to the NYPD, a 43-year-old man was traveling east on Roosevelt Avenue in the Elmhurst neighborhood, in Queens, around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5 when he struck a pedestrian near 92nd Street.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and his 35-year-old female passenger were taken to Elmhurst Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
The NYPD told The New York Post that charges against the driver are pending. It has also been indicated that the driver was drunk at the time of the crash, although police have not said what led them to this conclusion.
