Pedestrian Killed In East Elmhurst Car Accident Near 30th Avenue and 74th Street
EAST ELMHURST, NEW YORK (March 17, 2020) – A pedestrian has tragically died in a car accident near the intersection of 30th Avenue and 74th Street.
California Highway Patrol are saying that the accident took place around 3:30 p.m. For reasons that remain under investigation a car hit the victim while she was on an electric mobility scooter.
An ambulance was called to the scene and transported the victim to NYC Health. Despite life-saving measures she later died due to her injuries.
An investigation remains ongoing at this time.

All drivers have a legal responsibility to exercise due care in order to avoid hitting pedestrians. According to New York Vehicle Code 1146, “Notwithstanding the provisions of any other law to the contrary, every driver of a vehicle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with any bicyclist, pedestrian, or domestic animal upon any roadway and shall give warning by sounding the horn when necessary.” Elderly pedestrians tend to be at a higher risk for being involved in car accidents.
