‘Notorious’ Manhattan Intersection Claims 2nd Victim
A particularly bloody intersection on the Upper West Side has claimed another victim.
Around 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 10, a 61-year-old Manhattan woman was crossing the street when she was struck and killed in the intersection of West End Avenue and West 95th Street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. The black SUV that struck her dragged her for a horrifying half-block before the driver stopped.
The woman was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, but her head and internal injuries were too severe and she was pronounced dead a short time later. We extend our most sincere sympathies to her family and friends.
The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has said it is investigating whether charges will be filed against the 50-year-old man who was driving the SUV.
The Manhattan Car Accident Attorneys at Pulvers, Pulvers & Thompson said that the accident occurred only two blocks away from the spot where a 9-year-old boy was hit by a car and killed earlier this summer. He had been holding his father’s hand in a crosswalk when the pair was struck by a cabdriver in late June.
As Manhattan car accident attorneys, we find stories like this sickening. If it’s apparent that a given area is, for whatever reason, a problem spot for accidents, then we would expect New York authorities to do something about it. It is unfair, to say the very least, the innocent people are being put in danger and no changes are being made.
