Liability In Harlem Bucket Truck Accidents
There are nearly 250,000 workers that use bucket trucks every year. There are a number of ways that these trucks can be particularly dangerous. For example, workers that use bucket trucks are at risk for:
- Electrocutions from coming into contact with power lines
- Falls from the bucket
- Arm collapses if the hydraulic system fails
Bucket trucks are naturally quite top-heavy and are more prone to tipping over. But not every accident involving a bucket truck involves fault on the part of a truck driver or lift manufacturer. A number of accidents occur when portions of a road collapse beneath a truck.
New York City has a legal responsibility to create, design and maintain roads that are reasonably safe. If city workers fail to create safe roads and this leads to someone being injured in a road collapse the city could be liable. Any person that is injured in a road collapse accident may have legal recourse through a bodily injury claim for lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering. A road design defect attorney can examine all of the facts of your case and let you know what your legal options are.
