Pedestrian Killed In Middle Island Car Accident Along Middle Country Road By Williams Floyd Parkway
MIDDLE ISLAND, NEW YORK (March 21, 2020) – A pedestrian has tragically died in a car accident near the intersection of Middle Country Road by Williams Floyd Parkway.
New York Police Department officials are saying that the collision took place around 12:30 a.m. For reasons that remain under investigation an SUV struck the pedestrian and knocked him to the ground.
An ambulance was called to the scene of the collision in order to help the victim. Despite life-saving measures they later died due to their injuries.
An investigation remains ongoing at this time.

According to New York Vehicle Code 1151, “When traffic-control signals are not in place or not in operation the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right of way, slowing down or stopping if need be to so yield, to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within a crosswalk on the roadway upon which the vehicle is traveling, except that any pedestrian crossing a roadway at a point where a pedestrian tunnel or overpass has been provided shall yield the right of way to all vehicles.” The family of any victim that died in a car accident may have legal recourse through a wrongful death claim.
