Trooper John Zayas Injured In Salinas Car Accident At DUI Checkpoint On Interstate 81
SALINA, NEW YORK (March 16, 2020) – A tropper identified as John Zayas was injured in a car accident that took place at a sobriety checkpoint along Interstate 81.
New York Police Department officials are saying that the collision occurred at a DUI checkpoint. The driver of a black Hummer H3 was asked to pull over by John Zayas.
The driver fled the checkpoint and ended up dragging John Zayas. Paramedics were called to the scene of the accident and took the police officer to the hospital.
It remains unclear if the driver of the Hummer has been caught at this point. An investigation remains ongoing at this time.
